CALL FOR PAPERS –
Abstracts due April 14 2009
ANZAScA 2009 invites submission of original research papers from all areas of Architectural Science and allied fields.
Performative Ecologies in the Built Environment: Sustainability Research across Disciplines
It is becoming clear that sustainability design research should not proceed through narrow disciplinary enterprises. Sustainability practice needs to extend beyond traditional divisions between human beings and the milieu; architectural design and building science; internal and external environments; structure and form; virtual and actual and; the academic and practical. Such performance-based design research relies upon a dynamic and versatile attitude to the relationship between architecture, its users and its environment, towards a notion of ecologies.
This conference calls for research papers on sustainability of the built environment. This includes the effect of operational, embodied, behavioural and infrastructural aspects of the built environment on society, environment and the economy. The conference invites research on the built environment from fields such as architecture, engineering, geography, landscape architecture, environmental science, biology, ecology, hydrology, art and computing science including experimental digital design and human computer interaction (HCI).
The conference calls for proposals under various thematic scales rather than subject divisions to encourage reflection on the interdisciplinary nature of architectural science research:
· Nano / micro
· Human
· Architectural
· Urban / Regional
· Geological
· Global
