The Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2009 has been designed by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of Japanese architecture practice SANAA.
Its construction and realisation relies entirely on the support of a group of 27 companies and individuals including NetJets Europe (business jet ), Mace Group (project and construction management), Weil Gotshal & Manges (legal services).

Park Nights, the Gallery’s programme of public talks and events, will take place in the Pavilion, and will culminate in the annual Marathon event that takes place in October.

"The pavilion is an architecture which shies away from architectural reference."
"The pavilion does not melt into the surroundings. Nor does it, as the architects also suggest, sit seamlessly within the natural environment. "
"edges that shy away from defining volumes of space, and surfaces that are equally vague about what is up and what is down, in or out."
