This event looked at some emerging technologies used in the collection of topographical data, the production of new forms of digital maps and the creation of innovative, interactive, information portals. The first session addressed the more technical side of the subject with presentations from Sir Terry Farrell (Terry Farrell & partners.) Andy Hudson Smith (Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis UCL) and Justin Saunders (co-founder and technical director of eMap site.) The second set of speakers offered a range of sociological and cultural insights into the deployment of these new modes of mapping: Giles Lane (founder and director of Proboscis) Diddier Madoc Jones (co-founder GMJ Design) Professor Alan Brimicombe (head of the Centre for Geo-Informational Studies UEL.)
